A Weekend Outside

Happy Friday Everyone!

One of the things I love most about Summer is how much time we get to spend outside. Growing up in Leavenworth, I experienced 4 very distinct seasons. After a very LONG Winter and a short but lovely Spring, Summer was always welcomed with joy and great anticipation!

Our days were filled with swimming, floating the river, hiking, bike riding, hours basking in the sun, and fun family dinners around the table in the outdoor gazebo! Dinner outside always tasted better, jokes are always funnier, and great family memories are created around the candle lit table!

With the promise of eating outside great weather extremes are overlooked and endured. Extra sweatshirts and blankets are fluffed and wrapped to ease the Summer night time chill, or on especially hot evenings dinner is served around the pool with extra cold drinks on hand and dessert awaiting its appearance in the freezer!

The special sounds of Summer take center stage and fill the calm night with a strange sense of unity and camaraderie. Frog, crickets, bees, the soft whisper of humming bird wings, a slight breeze rustling leaves, and the calm of the setting sun all mingle and become a beautiful chorus depicting the joys of Summer.

As Summer comes to a close and the subtle signs of Autumn begin to approach, I want to cling to every last moment outside. I want to savor every last warm ray of the sun, each fruity sip of my icy beverage, the last snuggles in the hammock under the Summer sky, and freeze all the Summer memories, laughs, and special times together with a snap of the camera!

I hope you enjoy your weekend and take sometime to be outside in the Summer sun before it slips away into a brisk and colorful fall! Our weekend will be spent outside; Vacation Bible School BBQ, two birthday parties, and a fun Seattle airshow with the Blue Angels! Memories with friends will be created, little boys will get dirty, new experiences will be embraced with squeals of delight, and fun will be had by all!

Wishing you a very happy, warm, and wonderful weekend!

Beautiful images... I know just what you mean about grasping the last warm days... as I observe some fallen leaves already.
